Crete Public Library is supported by the community, including its many volunteers. These volunteers are members of the library board and Friends of the Crete Public Library. In addition, the library has volunteers to help in the library and many who help with the June Summer Reading Program and the Reading with Friends program in July.
The five-member Library Board of Advisors participates and counsels the library director in all aspects of the library, including, budgeting, collections, programming. The 2016-2017 board members are:

Friends of the Library
The mission statement of the Friends of the Crete Public Library reads as follows, “A private foundation to supplement, support and service the goals/services/programs of the CPL.”
The Friends of the Library are a national non-profit group of citizens who are dedicated to the betterment of public libraries. The Friends of the Crete Public Library consist of 13 board members
The Friends support of the library ensures that the needs of the Crete community are further enhanced through the collection of materials as well as programming initiatives.
The library benefits from the efforts of volunteers of all ages. In all instances, volunteers will be held to the same standards as paid library staff. Volunteers will be accepted and utilized when a need for such assistance has been determined by the Director.
The library relies on a number of volunteers for the Summer Reading Program in June as well as Reading with Friends Program in July. To volunteer, complete this form and return it to the library.
