Crete to celebrate Welcoming Week with community potluck

Crete Community Potluck, Sunday, Sept. 22, 2-4 p.m.

Grab a lawn chair and your favorite picnic dish to enjoy in beautiful City Park with friends and neighbors at a community potluck on Sunday, Sept. 22 from 2-4 p.m. as The City of Crete joins with hundreds of communities to celebrate Welcoming Week.

Americans of all backgrounds come together to create stronger, more prosperous communities and the City of Crete is proud to be a part of Welcoming Week (Sept. 13-22), which demonstrates in places large and small, rural and urban, people of all backgrounds, immigrants and long term residents, are coming together to create stronger communities.

The Welcoming Week Crete Community Potluck on Sept. 22 will be held in City Park where picnic tables will be available and lawn chairs are encouraged. Guests are welcome to bring a dish to share if they are able, as well as their preferred beverage (non-alcoholic). Limited drinks will be available. This event is being coordinated by the City’s Community Assistance Director, Nancy Tellez, at City Hall, with assistance from various community organizations and volunteers.

A few activities will be added to the meal event in the park for residents to enjoy the afternoon, including kids’ games, coloring sheets, as well as information about the upcoming 2020 Census.

For questions and more information, contact Tellez at City Hall, 402.826.6405 or email nancy.tellez@crete.ne.gov
