Crete Public Library is once again hosting the Volunteer Income Tax Assistance program with Doane University student volunteers who will provide free tax preparation to people who make $64,000 or less, persons with disabilities, the elderly, and limited English-speaking taxpayers who need assistance in preparing their own tax returns. 

The program starts on Feb. 6 and all preparation will be done at the library by appointment only. Available times will be Tuesday and Thursdays, from 3:00 - 5:30 p.m.; appointments are at 30 minute intervals. Call or visit the library to make an appointment, 402.826.3809.

IRS-certified volunteers provide free basic income tax return preparation with electronic filing to qualified individuals. This service includes both state and federal tax preparation in English and Spanish. Prepared tax returns include for Individuals with Forms W2, 1099MISC, 1099R, SSA, SSI, 1099G, 1099INT Students and Scholars on F1, F2, J1 or J2 visas.
