Spring Clean-Up May 1-5

The City of Crete will hold the annual Spring Clean-Up from Tuesday, May 1 to Saturday, May 5, with special City Transfer Station services, appliance pick-up and a community shredding event.

No fees will be charged at the Transfer Station for major appliances delivered there on Tuesday, May 1 or Saturday, May 5 (see hours below); yard waste or brush and metal or iron items can be dropped off for free. A coupon is available from the city advertisement for Crete residents only to receive $5 off a load of other refuse taken to the Transfer Station.

Transfer station regular hours are Tuesdays, from 1 to 6 p.m. and Saturdays from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. The station is located 1/2 mile north of Highway 33 and Boswell Avenue on the east side of the road (478 County Road 2300).

For the convenience of Crete residents, Crete Ace Hardware and the City will provide a dumpster at 1025 Main Ave. for large items to be dropped off. This location is not for TVs, tires, or construction material.

Curbside pick-up of major appliances will be offered from the City Public Works Department to those Crete residents who call ahead to arrange a pick-up before Thursday, May 3 at 5 p.m.. Pick-ups will be made on May 2, 3, and 4. Call the Public Works office at 402-826-4312 for more information.

Pinnacle Bank will host a community shred event on May 5 from 9 to 11 a.m. when residents can bring old and unwanted documents to be shred for free. Please do not bring three-ring binders and there is a maximum of 10 boxes per person.
