CVFD hosts training at Doane quads June 19

June 19: Multi-department firefighter training in vertical ventilation and forcible entry at Doane University's Burrage Hall.

Crete Volunteer Fire Department hosted a multi-department training on Sunday, June 19 at Burrage Hall on Doane University's campus.

The 1960's era dormitories were slated for demolition in July and area fire departments took the opportunity to use the buildings for training by coordinating with Doane's Facilities Department staff. Thirty-eight firefighters trained on vertical ventilation and forcible entry techniques. They could be seen practicing cutting ventilation holes in the roof during the first half of the training morning. The second half was spent utilizing entry techniques on exterior and interior doors.

Special thanks to Doane University Facilities staff and Sodexo food service, and Crete Ace Hardware.
