Council approves one way changes to 14th and Norman area

New one way designations were approved for the 14th and Norman area.

The Crete City Council approved one-way designations on 14th Street and Norman Avenue with an action item at the July 5 regular meeting and Resolution 2022-03 at the July 19 regular meeting.

New One Way street designations include: 14th Street from Main to Norman is westbound and Norman Ave. from 14th to 13th Streets is southbound. Two lanes of traffic will remain with semi trucks using the right lane; all other traffic will use the left lane.

Angle parking remains on both sides of Norman, all in the southbound direction of traffic. Parallel parking remains on the south side of 14th Street in the westbound direction of traffic.

One parking spot was removed on West 13th Street, on the northeast corner of the intersection with Norman to increase visibility for traffic turning onto 13th.

This item was also discussed in several committee meetings in June and July in regards to traffic congestion due to mill trucks traveling and staging in this area. Input was sought from Police Chief Steve Hensel and Crete’s Bunge Mills plant manager, Eric Woodrow. See council summaries.
