Public Parks

The City of Crete has 11 beautiful parks, which include a public pool, dog park, and camping areas, in addition to a community garden and community spaces maintained by the Parks and Recreation Department. One additional park is in development. Two appointed citizen boards meet on park and recreation activities: Park Board & Tree Board.

Visit the city's online map - select 'Parks and Amenities' under the Layers tab (at left) to view park locations, including athletic fields, playgrounds, etc. Find park areas and city facilities that can be rented or reserved.

Recreation Programs

Parks and Recreation organizes a year-round schedule of youth and adult programs. The department utilizes RecDesk online for all of its program information to register and pay for programs, check upcoming events and schedules, obtain forms and documents, reserve a field or facility and so much more. Getting started is easy, just create an account to gain access to everything offered by the City of Crete Parks & Recreation Department.

  • Find the 2024 Recreation program and registration dates on RecDesk or view the pdf:
  • Please note: additional programs may be added and information may change, watch for announcements each program season.

There are numerous recreational activities and facilities available to community residents through additional resources in Crete, including Doane University and Crete Public Schools. Four state recreational areas are within 20 miles of the city. See more about local recreation opportunities, including youth athletics, in the Living in Crete section of this site.
