Wildwood Pool will not open as scheduled this season
City continues to evaluate COVID-19 situation
The City of Crete Parks and Recreation Department will not open Wildwood Pool as scheduled due to public health recommendations and restrictions predicted to remain in place throughout the majority of the summer season.
City officials gathered information and held discussion on the issue before taking recommendations to the full City Council at the regular meeting on April 7, where the council voted not to open the pool as previously scheduled.
City officials said this is unfamiliar territory for communities and the programs involved due to current COVID-19 restrictions and recently issued statewide Directed Health Measures.
Preparation for the 2020 season has not been able to proceed as normal in terms of hiring staff and getting the facility ready. It is also unknown if these activities will be able to proceed in the next few months as restrictions are lifted or potentially renewed.
City officials are constantly evaluating this situation and how it impacts all aspects of city programs and services.
