Seniors can call to sign up for Crete Meals on Wheels

Meal program for seniors starts up again

Meals on Wheels program starts up again in Crete.

Interested clients who would like to receive Meals on Wheels deliveries in Crete can now call 402.821.3330 to sign up for the newest meal delivery program for Seniors. Calls go to the Saline County Aging Services office in Wilber.

Mayor Dave Bauer put the call out in February to community volunteers to help restart a meal delivery program with the help of Saline County Aging Services and Tabitha of Crete.

Bauer said organizers were then ready for interested volunteers to come forward as delivery volunteers. People called and the program was ready to start up again in Crete.

Crete's most recent meal program, Friendly Meals, ceased deliveries more than several years ago and was run by volunteers who delivered to homes in Crete.

Bauer said with the help of the local agencies, noon meals are provided by Tabitha five days a week and delivered by volunteers.

Volunteers interested in helping deliver meals can call Bauer Insurance Agency in Crete for more information, 402.826.5141.
