UPDATED Oct. 20: Weather permitting, work will begin Wednesday, Oct. 21, on Nebraska Highway 33 (N-33) on the bridge over the Big Blue River, between reference post 10 and reference post 11, according to the Nebraska Department of Transportation. Garcia-Chicoine, of Milford, is the contractor for this project. Work includes bridge repairs necessary to remove the existing weight restriction. Traffic will be maintained with temporary traffic signals and traffic will be limited to one lane. A 12-foot width restriction will be in effect. Work is expected to take five weeks to complete. UPDATED Oct. 1: Weight Restrictions on Hwy 33 Bridge over Big Blue River Oct. 1, 2026 (Lincoln, Neb.) — The Nebraska Department of Transportation (NDOT) has implemented weight restrictions on the Hwy 33 Bridge, S033 01026, over the Big Blue River on the west side of Crete following a recent inspection. The bridge is restricted to 17 tons for single-unit trucks, 25 tons for semi-trucks, and 30 tons for multi-trailer trucks. Vehicles exceeding the posted weight limits need to use an alternate route.
