City of Crete and community reminders for Independence Day weekend in Crete:
- Fireworks sales and use in Crete:
- June 28 - July 2 until 10 p.m.
- July 3 - July 4 until 11 p.m.

- Friday, June 30:
- Crete Public Library Family Movie Night in the Community Room, 7 p.m. (This event is part of the annual Summer Reading Program; the time has been updated.)
- Community fireworks show, sponsored by the Crete Chamber of Commerce, is at 10 p.m. and will be visible from the College Heights Country Club area, 1225 East 4th Street; fireworks will be professionally launched from the driving range east of the main course; no amateur fireworks may be used in this area.
- Saturday, July 1: RipTide Swim Meet at Wildwood Pool, 9 a.m. The parade of champions starts at 8:35 a.m. and national anthem at 8:55 a.m. No open/family swim on this day.
- Tuesday, July 4: Wildwood Pool hours, 1-4 p.m.
- The Transfer Station will be closed on Tuesday, July 4.
