Celebrate Crete community event Sept. 17

More Welcoming Week activities

Celebrate Crete community event on Sept. 17 at City Park.

Join us on Wednesday, Sept. 17, from 5:00 to 8:00 p.m. at City Park, as the City of Crete hosts Celebrate Crete—a fun-filled community event honoring the people, culture, and spirit that make our city so special.

This free community event includes live entertainment and performances, resource booths, foam party, food and drinks, ice cream, games, and activities. Attendees are encouraged to bring a blanket or lawn chair for this picnic-style event.

This lively celebration is part of National Welcoming Week (Sept. 12–21) and made possible through the incredible support of our local partners, businesses and organizations. Welcoming Week: Celebrate Crete aims to recognize Crete, its vibrant community, rich culture, and heritage while fostering a sense of unity and belonging for all who call Crete home.

Welcoming Week events:

  • Free screening of "Clínica de Migrantes: Life, Liberty, and the Pursuit of Happiness" Monday, Sept. 15, 6:30 p.m. at Isis Theatre, 139 West 13th St.
    • This is a powerful documentary offering an unprecedented look inside one of the only health clinics in the U.S. that serves underserved patients, including undocumented immigrants. Stay for a panel at 7 p.m. with local healthcare professionals who will share resources available in our community and answer questions. An interpreter will also be present to ensure everyone can participate fully. This is an important opportunity to learn, connect, and talk about how we can better support healthcare access in our community.
