March 19: Crete included in area-wide power outage

Updates relayed as they are received from transmission line providers

Update for Dorchester, March 20, 11 a.m.: The City of Crete Electric Department maintains Dorchester’s distribution system - all the lines in town; Crete does not maintain the transmission lines into Dorchester (the lines going to Dorchester). Between yesterday (March 19) and today, Crete crews were taking care of issues in Dorchester, along with needs in Crete. We were monitoring the fact that the lines going to Dorchester were down and would get periodic updates on the status of pending repairs. The most recent update from the transmission line provider is they are working on repairs toward Dorchester. Once they make those repairs on their transmission lines, the power will be on immediately.

Update, March 19, 4:12 p.m.: The City of Crete is emergency power generating for essential services. There are places in town, such as waste water facilities, where there will be rolling outages in order for sewer flows to keep functioning. There will be people who don’t have power and those who have intermittent power at this time. Crete was affected like all other towns and rural areas by today's transmission line outages.

Update, March 19, 1 p.m.: The City of Crete is included in this area-wide, weather-related power outage. Many towns and areas are currently without power. Crews are working on the issues.

From Crete Police: The power outage includes traffic signals. We asked that, if you should encounter a traffic signal without power, please treat that intersection as a four-way stop.
